Prepare a suitable container for the fish and fill this with pond water.
Drain some of the water from the pond to facilitate catching them, and transfer the fish with hand nets to the container.
Put a cover over them - a board or sheet to keep them in the dark, as they will be frightened and may otherwise jump out.
After removing the plants and any decaying debris, the sides of the pond should be scrubbed to remove algae.
After flushing out the pond, commence replanting into containers or the built-in planting pockets.
When re-potting, use fresh Aquatic Soil and Aquatic Gravel.
Do not use the old soil from the containers, or soil dug from the garden which may contain weed killer or fertilizer.
Place the plant containers and pump back in the pond and refill with fresh water.
Add the correct dose of water treatment to neutralize the chemicals and minerals in the water, enabling you to replace the fish within hours instead of days.
