Softwood versus Hardwood

The traditional deck surface in the UK market is a softwood, grooved deck board. Cheap and easy to work with, it is a cost effective material to install. The main boards we use are 120mm wide by 32mm thick and come in a standard 3.6m (12 foot) length. When required, we are able to obtain 150mm wide by 4.2m (14ft) timbers or other lengths when specifically specified.

Being softwood, they cut into an infinite number of patterns enabling us to continue our mission of creating bespoke decks for all our customers.

Maintenance involves the occasional sweeping and we recommend that once a year it is treated with a proprietary deck sealant which repels water, aides grip and prolongs the life of the deck.
