If you are thinking of having a new pond, we can help you with all the steps from conception to completion:
- Contractor - It is essential your chosen contractor knows the art of pond creation. If they don’t know what “new pond syndrome” or a vortex is, you need to change your installer.
- Location – Building it under your favourite tree may look pretty, but roots or leaves could give you real problems in the future. Sunshine, ground level, water run-off & power supply are just a few considerations.
- Materials – what liner to use? Edging (rockery stone, paving slab, wood, natural). Concrete and water. Sectional waterfall components. Where to obtain from? Warranties if it goes wrong?
- Filtration equipment – what to use? Water volume? Guarantees on clear-water and/or equipment failure? Is the internet such a good deal? Local advice with the ‘right’ equipment is a key component here.
- Aquatic plants – water lilies, deep marginals, shallow marginals, bog plants, oxygenation weed. How many? Which varieties? Getting the right balance is key for the health of your pond.
- Fish stocking – How many? What species? What stocking level? How will they grow? What to feed and when? How to protect them from predators. How to care for them if they become ill.
- Aftercare – you buy a new car and have it serviced annually – why not your pond? Good care and regular maintenance will keep your pond in tip-top condition.
