Why not introduce some pond lighting to add to your enjoyment of your pond through the summer. We would be pleased to provide you with more information or a quotation.
FEEDING: Feed fish with floating pellets
FISH: Your fish may well be spawning soon and this month it should be warm enough for the floating water hyacinths which have soft, furry roots - excellent for holding fish spawn. Make sure there are plenty of oxygenating plants for the fry to hide in.
PUMPING & FILTRATION: As water temperatures begin to rise substantially, aerating systems such as waterfalls and fountains should be used to full effect. Oxygen does not dissolve easily into warm water and low oxygen levels are frequently encountered in the summer months. During the daytime, aquatic plants will add oxygen to the water but at night the cycle is reversed and even oxygenating varieties of plant will compete with the fish for available oxygen. It is therefore very important to keep aerating systems such as fountains and waterfalls running during the night time in the summer to ensure the fish have adequate supplies of oxygen.
PLANTS: A greater range of aquatic plants will be available this month and the more tender varieties may now be planted. Overgrown marginal plants and water lilies should be split up and replanted in containers. Make sure there are plenty of oxygenating plants should your fish spawn, for fry to hide in.
