Whether we are building a new pond, restoring one or emergency rescuing a pond, the majority of ponds are constructed with a flexible liner. Consideration therefore needs to be given in choosing the right product for your pond. We can offer you:
PVC - a great, quick and cheap easily sourced budget fix for your pond.
Butyl – the household name in quality liners, these last a lifetime, mould well to your pond contours and, importantly, can be patch repaired should a leak happen.
Greenseal – now called EcoSeal. A commercial, synthetic derivative of butyl with better performance parameters than butyl and, importantly, being man-made, it’s cheaper than butyl.
Firestone EDPM. The king of pond liners, 1mm thick with a lifetime guarantee, these liners are best for larger ponds right through to lakes. Larger sheets can be welded on-site by our team to cover any area, shape or size of pond/lake that needs a liner.
Importantly, a liner needs support and protection to quantify its claims:
For natural in-ground ponds, we’ll use 50mm (2”) of soft building sand to protect the liner
For all other installations, a 260gsm fleece membrane is used which can be heat-gun welded together.
You can learn more about this welding by visiting our Liner welding page and ourCommercial ponds & lakes portfolio page.
