We were asked to install an off-the-shelf pavillion from a major supplier and we also designed the installation of two pergolas and a second raised planter for the residents of this nursing home in South Bristol. Unfortunately the £8K budget was exceeded by the pavillion, so we built one ourselves!
There was a need to dig down 8" to get the top of the deck level with the surround paving which easily filled the new planting bed we created. 4m deckboards were then fitted so there were no joints and thus trip hazards. Our normal Fountain Timber deckposts were then installed together with a wall plate, pitched roof and 19mm plywood (to keep everything rigid). We then clad the structure in a waterproofing bitumen sheet before applying the shingles from Aaron Roofing Supplies.
Two weeks fun was had here creating pergolas, trellising, planters and this all-weather outdoor space for the residents.
