From 2004

Our client contracted us to install a 40' x 30' wildlife pond into this field. Having already built his summerhouse, the pond would become it's focal point, attracting wildlife to the area.

Sub-contracting in Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd, the pond was dug with a 3-tonne mini excavator and dumper. The pond site was then lined with soft sand to cushion the liner plus a fleece underliner before the butyl liner was laid.

A skim of soil was then laid over the liner before 20-tonne of mixed cobbles were added to protect the liner against wildlife trampling in the pond.

220 plants were then planted with lilies in the middle of the pool, surrounding a small island built from a pallet! A pump circulates the water via a small stream bed, preventing stagnation. An enjoyable project with easy-going clients--just how we like it!
