From 2006

Late Autumn saw a spate of new koi-style ponds being built and this one was no exception. Having visited the client and computed his current fish stock, we settled on a 400 gallon pond as best fitting into the available space. Being built into a slope, the pond was designed to match the existing stone-clad retaining wall to the patio yet curve around to frame the steps leading down the garden.

The pond was built using dense concrete blocks in a mixture of laying styles - one their sides and edges to form the structure necessary to both contain the water plus provide a framework to key in the exterior, coursed, pennant walling stone.

Filtration and circulation was taken care of by our favourites - Hozelocks' Bioforce UVC filter coupled together with a Titan pump; all fed from the existing power supply to the old pond.
