From 2006

We were asked to take-over & develop a pond which had been started in this cottage courtyard. The tough specification of pre-built location, natural cotswold stone wall and breeze-block footings (to hide) ensured much head-scratching here. To ease the thought pattern, we were provided with a most excellent breakfast which, on a freezing winters day, was most welcome.

Concrete blocks shaped the pond, doubling as a shallow marginal shelf. Soft sand formed the pond floor and after the liner had been introduced, lots of soil was introduced, mounded and trampled into place to obscure the block wall support behind. We then created a steep, winding, natural waterfall fed from a high-lift pump via a pressurised filtration system.

Aquatic planting, pond lights and surround planting completed this pond, including a small bog plant area where hopefully birds will come to drink and play.
