We were asked to line a 15 x 20m wildlife ponds with Bentomat in Leeds. We declined as we do not associate ourselves with this product, however the client was eager to utilise our experience and expertise so we visited the site and, long story short, proposed the 40 x 25m lake as you see now.
Our site meeting jointly agreed that this proposal would be much more in keeping with the property and land into which it was to sit.
Our groundworker, B.D. Westby Groundworks Ltd created the lagoon and, working with the site landscapers, then expanded the original 15 x 20m pond site hole as soil was needed elsewhere – effectively creating a second pond.
Working to our unique bank design, this wildlife lake can also be swum in and, with two young daughters in mind, a menage sand beach was created; the idea borrowed from our Staffordshire swimming lake project a few years back. Lined with a lifetime EPDM membrane, which is repairable too!
Upon completion and the introduction of water, Turtle returned to install subtle aerator fountains and a first tranche of wildlife lake / pond planting.
Spring ’22 saw a return visit with a second tranche of Spring aquatic plants. Great to see how the landscapers have started to blend the lake into the land.
